My experience as a new Service owner
We know Google's secret; a nice statement I thought when I saw the upMention advertising mast along the A4. The slogan stuck, and after reading the upMention blogs, two things were clear to me;
- There are a few secrets for upMention
- I want to learn more about SEO.
A pleasant telephone conversation and two good conversations later, I ended up in the internet marketing world at upMention. The transition from general marketing as a supporting role to SEO marketing as a core business to grow companies still makes me happy every day.
Working in an international company
Few people will have missed that the internet knows no country borders. Getting relevant visitors from different countries to your website requires extra in-depth knowledge of your target group, where language is not the only barrier. Learning from and immersing myself in other cultures has always interested me.
In my "young years," I travelled quite a bit and did an internship in Bolivia for a while. I liked the contrast in culture, approach, warmth and habits and have stayed with me. Experience that other cultures contribute to your awareness and give you a broader view of the world. An office in Kenya, Kenyan colleagues…. interesting, nice, how does that work?
It is simple for international and Dutch customers who are active outside the Netherlands. Kenyans speak English just like many Dutch people, only without the cool Dutch accent of Mark Rutte and many Dutch people, including myself. There is also a lot of overlap in activities for Dutch customers. There is a lot of IT knowledge within the Kenya office, set the language settings to English, and we speak the same language.
Embracing the Field as a Service Owner
SEO is a top sport; it takes a lot of time, effort and attention but does not outweigh the satisfaction of reaching the Google podium. I like measuring and making goals concrete and gaining insight into visitor behaviour. As a Service owner, it is a clean task to analyze this and translate it into opportunities for the customer.
There are opportunities for many companies to grow online, hard measurable goals such as selling more products, but also visibility of your company to attract staff or arouse interest in your business activities. Many companies need to be made aware of this. My advice; read the blogs on our website, see the opportunities for your company, do not limit yourself to national borders and make an appointment with Geerten or Alex to discuss the possibilities.
